Tibco Adds Matching Engine To MDM PlatformThe addition of Netrics' technology to Collaboration Information Manager version 7.2.1 considerably improves the finding of duplicate records in very large data sets through advanced mathematical modeling of human similarity. By Antone Gonsalves August 31, 2009 Tibco has integrated Netrics' mathematical algorithmic-based matching engine into the latest upgrade of the company's master data management platform. The addition of Netrics' technology to Collaboration Information Manager version 7.2.1 considerably improves the finding of duplicate records in very large data sets through advanced mathematical modeling of human similarity, according to the companies. The approach provides a higher degree of accuracy across different data types, such as customers, products, vendors, locations etc. "Netrics' engine provides real-time data matching that is critical to managing customer data and is proven scalable despite high volumes of data errors,"Stefanos Damianakis, chief executive of Netrics, said in a statement. In addition, the upgrade offers an overall lower total cost of ownership of older versions, because customers no longer have to spend the time and money to develop and maintain rules, which is required in the traditional rules-based approach tode-duplication, the vendors say. "Businesses today struggle with rules-based approaches to data quality with mixed results and high service costs," Inderjeet Singh, VP of emerging technologies at Tibco, said. The combined MDM platform was introduced last week. More details are available on Tibco's Web site. In June, Informatica moved toward bundling information integration and data quality and cleansing with the acquisitionAddressDoctor . The latter German company provides global address validation and enrichment services covering more than 200 countries and territories.
