Pegasystems Launches BPM 'Platform as a Service'The add-on layer to PegaRules Process Commander makes it possible to define and host multiple instances of processes on a single box for lines of business, departments, merged companies or other internal clients. By Antone Gonsalves October 9, 2008 Pegasystems has built a software layer on top of its business process management engine that makes it possible to replicate a process instance and deploy it to a separate business unit. The add-on layer to PegaRules Process Commander, which is the core of Pegasystems' BPM suite, makes it possible to define and host multiple instances on a single box for lines of business, departments, merged companies or other internal clients. Each replicated instance includes the same single sign-on, data schema, integration component and any other object of the original. The idea behind the add-on is to make it possible to re-deploy processes without having to install a separate BPM engine. "This is really a way to make adoption easier throughout an organization," Kerim Akgonul, VP of product management, said. "Reuse is a major factor keeping in keeping projects on time and on budget." Available by the end of the quarter, the add-on will be sold separately. PegaRules Process Commander will also be sold without the optional platform change.
