Larger Fonts Indicate Higher Frequency
Spatial proximity is often meaningless in word cloud visualizations. Consider this word cloud generated from the text of President Barack Obama's inaugural address. That "nation" and "new" appear together with the same color is incidental; it's an artifact of the Wordle.net software used to generate the image. The only aspect of visualization that carries any real value is font size -- the larger the font, the more frequently used the word -- an effective approach to conveying the sense of the speech.
