SDL Expands Content Management Offerings With XyEnterprise Purchase

XyEnterprise, which specializes in XML and content component management, will be merged with SDL's Trisoft unit, which will be renamed XySoft.

SDL has bought XyEnterprise to expand its content management offerings.

XyEnterprise, which specializes in XML and content component management, will be merged with SDL's Trisoft unit, which will be renamed XySoft and headed by XyEnterprise Chief Executive Kevin Duffy. The new unit will support both XyEnterprise and Trisoft customers and products.

The latest purchase builds on SDL's 2008 acquisition of Trisoft, which also offered component content management products. XyEnterprise brings to SDL XML publishing products, research and development, professional services and support teams.

"XyEnterprise's products and expertise will enable us to scale faster to meet the needs of our enterprise customers," Mark Lancaster, chairman and CEO of SDL, said in a statement released last week.

XySoft products, in combination with SDL's information management applications, will be targeted at global companies that need to manage content in multiple languages, according to XyEnterprise. By integrating the software with business systems, companies can manage the delivery of product information from authoring to publication and throughout the distributed translation supply chain.

SDL bought XyEnterprise for $14.7 million in cash, Reuters news agency reported.
